Early Times Report
srinagar, July 6: The National Conference has fired yet another paper missile on the PDP-this time accusing it of ignoring Srinagar.
Without contesting the veracity of this claim, the NC was accused of ignoring the city of Srinagar by none other than the former union home minister, P Chidambarum on his visit to the historic city.
He was shocked to see the condition of roads in the city and expressed his dissatisfaction. He was told that the political situation had hampered the developmental projects.
The NC talked about dismal fund allocation for the entire eight assembly segments of Srinagar was an indication of how the Mufti Government wants to suffocate the capital city for want of infrastructure and development.
Hundreds of examples can be cited here to prove that NC has been ignoring the city for long but its role during the last year's devastating floods can prove the point.
The NC led government allowed the capital city to drown in waters last September and with it the government also drowned.
According to experts, this was as good as Tughlaq's shifting capital from Delhi. There was no place for the government to function from.
Experts say there is a procedure to be followed to save Srinagar in times of floods. The procedure was not followed. The NC provincial president and his workers hampered the necessary work and allowed the city to drown.
Aslam did it to win a few votes but this time the voters proved wiser. They rejected him after seeing the plight of Amira Kadal-a constituency from where Nasir contested.
