Early Times Report Jammu, July 27: J&K Branch of of Institute Chartered Accountants of India today organized a workshop on the proposed GST Regime. Dr. Haseeb Ahmed Drabu, Minister for Finance, labour, Employment & Culture was the Chief Guest & CA. Sat Sharma , MLA was the guest of Honour on the occasion. Bashir Ahmed & Atul Kumar Gupta, Central Council Member, ICAI were the guest speakers. Both the speakers are also members of empowered committee on GST constituted by Ministry of Finance Govt. Of India In his address, Dr. Drabu congratulated the fraternity for organising the seminar & also lauded the role of Chartered Accountants in economy. He said ,he was in favour of implementation of Goods & Services Tax Act but certain issues & state specific concerns need to be addressed to. He also requested the J&K Chapter of ICAI to form a sub working group on GST along with other members from trade & industry, Commercial Taxes Department & Legal Experts so that concerns of J&K state are sorted out before final implementation of GST which is expected to implemented countrywide from 1st April 2016 onwards. Chairman J&K Branch of ICAI, CA. Anil Sharma, delivered the inaugural address & while welcoming the guests, emphasized that GST was a game changing tax reform & it would also help in bridging the gap between centre & state. CA. Shalay Razdan, Secretary J&K Branch of ICAI, conducted the entire proceedings of the seminar & vote of thanks was presented by Vice-Chairman, CA. Deepak Kapahi. CA. Dalip Kaul & CA. Sandeep Pachnanda, Members of Executive committee read out the profiles of dignitaries. Zaffer A Shah, Commissioner Commercial Taxes J&K, Anoo Malhotra Addl Commissioner Commercial Taxes, (Adm) Jammu & Samita Sethi, Additional Commissioner, Commercial Taxes (SIU), were also present along with large number of other Senior officials from Commercial Taxes department, leading businessmen from trade & industry & fraternity of Chartered Accountants. |
