Srinagar, July 28: Ever since Dr Farooq Abdullah was `run out' by PDP's Imran Ansari, Cricket in Jammu Kashmir has been hit for a six. No cricket has been played in Jammu Kashmir from the day elections to the JKCA were held. Imran Ansari was declared winner but Dr Farooq strongly contested the fairness of elections and has reportedly sought judicial intervention. The Jammu Kashmir cricket coach, Qayoom Baghaw told newsmen that all activity has come to a halt since controversial elections were held. A worried coach said that the team for national tournaments has not been held selected till date. A Ranji player has expressed concern over the way 40-40 and 20-20 tournaments have been dealt with. Curiously after the elections were held, the players have not been allowed to use the gym. He said the change of guard should not affect the game. The JKCA must function smoothly, he said. The captain if the state team, said. Parvez Rasool has refused to comment. "Unless things get cleared, I cannot speak," he said. The new body, however, has assured early resumption of activities. |
