Cong holds protests against 'denial of AIIMS' to Jammu

JAMMU, July 28:To lodge protest over denial of AIIMS to Jammu region and failure of the BJP-leadership and government representatives to honour the written commitment, the Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) held a protest demonstration at Kunjwani Chowk here today.
Led by former Minister and vice president PCC Raman Bhalla and attended by senior leaders of PCC including Kanta Bhan, Ravinder Sharma, Manjit Singh, Vikram Malhotra, Manmohan Singh; President DCC Jammu Anil Chopra, M K Bhardwaj former Corporators, leaders of DCC, Blocks, Mahila Congress leaders of Gandhi Nagar constituency and other areas the Congress workers assembled at the Kunjwani Chowk.
Earlier, the Congress leaders and workers paid floral tributes to former President Dr APJ Abdul Kalam and observed two minutes silence to pray for peace to his soul.
Later, the protestors marched through the main Chowk and market raising slogans against the centre and state government for the denial of due rights to Jammu region, demanding setting up of AIIMS in Jammu region.
Meanwhile, Pradesh Mahila Congress also staged a protest march at RS Pura against non-sanctioning of AIIMS for Jammu region. Led by president Pradesh Mahila Congress Indu Pawar, the women activists of the party while shouting slogans against the ruling Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) said that backtracking from its commitment is an act of betrayal with the people of Jammu by the BJP, who announced and gave a deadline of July 20 for getting sanction for AIIMS in Jammu.
Addressing the protesters, Pawar said that such action of BJP has revealed the real nature of the party.
