JU organises a training Programme on Methods in Molecular Biology

Jammu, July 29: In an endeavor to constantly update the research scholars of the Department in their research vistas a Three Day Hands-on- Training programme on "Fundamentals of Methods in Molecular Biology Part II" began here today in the Department of Botany, University of Jammu.
Formally welcoming the participating research scholars and the expert, Prof Yash Pal Sharma, Head, Department of Botany highlighted the objectives and relevance of such training sessions and said that such interactions would support to bridge the gap between expanding genetic knowledge and its practical applicability. He further informed that currently the basic research in Sciences, in general, and Plant Sciences in particular needs supplementation with molecular data which can be generated only through the application of molecular techniques and instrumentation.
Dr Susheel Verma, an accomplished Researcher and Associate Prof, Centre for Biodiversity Studies, BGSBU, Rajouri is the resource person for the said training
During the training sessions, practical demonstration, underlying principles and hands-on experience on various instruments employed for molecular and biochemical studies such as Thermo cycler, ultracentrifugation, high Performance Liquid chromatography (HPLC) etc. shall be imparted to the participating scholars.
The faculty members including Prof Geeta Sumbali, Prof Namrata Sharma, Dr Veenu Kaul, Dr Geeta Sharma, Dr Harish Chander and around 30 research scholars of the Department are participating in the training programme.
