Early Times Report JAMMU, July 29: Likewise Bachelor of Education (BEd), the Bachelor of Physical Education (BPEd) course will also be of two years duration from the coming academic session of the University of Jammu (JU). The Department of Sports and Physical Education, which runs the course on the JU main Campus, has already completed the required formalities to introduce two-year semester based BPEd course. "Following new guidelines of the University Grants Commission (UGC), the JU administration had asked for two-year BPEd and MPEd (Master of Physical Education) courses. Accordingly, new syllabus has been put in place by the Department for running two courses on semester basis," Director Sports and Physical Education, Prof Dhian Singh Charak told SAN. Adding he said, "The admission process for these courses is underway. With change in the duration of courses, the number of seats has also been increased. Now, the BPEd course shall have strength of 50 against existing earlier 30 seats. Similarly, 10 seats have been increased to make it 40 for MPEd." Since more space is required for the courses in view of increased strength, it is expected that the Department may start new session from its newly constructed building adjoining to the Gymnasium. It has been reliably learnt that the new building, the foundation stone for which was laid by Governor NN Vohra, may be inaugurated very soon. |
