Early Times Report

Kathua, July 30: Sikh Youth from entire District Kathua today assembled at Shaheed Bhagat Singh's park wherein they expressed resentment against Government of Punjab and Government of Punjab for not releasing political prisoners who have completed their imprisonment term.
Sikh Youth organized a rally and submitted a memorandum comprising several demands. While interacting to media Shagun Deep Singh Bali, member Bapu Surat Singh's sangharsh Committee said Bapu Surat Singh Khalsa, 83 years old has been sitting on hunger strike since January 16th 2015 approx for 200 days. The reason is being a humanitarian issue that is unknown to many.
He is demanding for release of political prisoners of the country who have completed their imprisonment terms but still unlawfully detained in various prisons of the country. He sought intervention of Amnesty International, UN, SGPC Amritsar, Government of Punjab and Union government to support the campaign to free political prisoners languishing in Indian Jails, many of whom have served years beyond their terms.
While indicating politicians' and media's remarks before concluding of Dinanagar terror attack, Bali said media and politicians must be unbiased and conscious before connecting Sikhs with anti-social incidents as Sikhs already passed through crucial period during 1980's and 90's. He said they must not comment without concrete ground.
Harpreet Singh Sethi, another member of Sangharsh Committee said the Indian authorities are most focused on trying to end Bapu Surat Singh Khalsa's protest by forcibly arresting him and feeding him against his will in hospital than addressing the real issues and concerns of the widerSikh and human rights community world.
Sethi said Bapu Surat Singh Khalsa and his supporters were also arrested and remain in police detention. He said we the Sikh Sangat of DistrictKathua want the release of all prisoners who have completed their jail terms and release of Babu Surat Singh Khalsa and his supporters instantly.
Baljeet Singh, Sorabh Singh, Harmeet Singh Meeta, Ranjit Singh, Satvinder Singh Bittu and many others were present and submitted memorandum to SGPC Amritsar, President of India, Government of India and Government of Punjab through proper channel (DDC Kathua) for necessary action and release of political prisoners who have completed imprisonment terms.
