Early Times Report
srinagar, July 30: In an embarrassment to former Congress minister Taj Mohiudin, on ground land survey document details and maps allegedly reveal land encroachment by him.
During on ground survey today in Sedow village of Shopian by a designated team of the State Government, massive errors surfaced in revenue records of Taj Mohiudin's forest land as maps of the department of forests and topo sheets (topo maps) ordered from the Survey Department of India reveal massive manual errors created in revenue records to allegedly encroach upon the forest land.
Two days back after government served a notice on Taj Mohiudin in connection with the forest land encroachment in Sedow area of south Kashmir's Shopian district, a designated survey team including SSP Vigilance organization Kashmir Altaf Hussain, DFO demarcation, Zubair Ahmad, DFO Forest Department Shopian, Muhammad Ashraf Katoo and officials of department of revenue today reached Sedow and started on ground survey of land in possession of Taj Mohiudin.
Officials of the department of forests while talking to Early Times said that during survey of land and cross check of revenue records with forest map and Topo Sheet (Topo map) specifically ordered from the Survey Department of India, a massive land encroachment and manually created errors surface in revenue records of the area of land in possession of Taj-Mohi-ud-din.
Officials said that as per their Assessment based on document details and maps, Taj has only 6 kanals of land in Sedow village with legal ownership rights and rest of around 25 kanals of land is in his possession is forest land.
Officials said that revenue records have been erred to a massive extent to show ownership rights of Taj on 18 kanals of land. However, no document is more authentic than forest maps and topo sheets.
They said that topographical map of the survey Department of India is always authentic nobody can challenge as Survey department of India is India's central engineering agency in charge of mapping and surveying set up in 1767 to help consolidate territories of British East India Company and therefore one of the oldest departments of Government of India.
On the other hand, documents collected from the office of the Tehsildar Shopian reveal that under survey No 3, Taj bears the ownership rights on 18 kanals and 2 marla's of land in the Sedow area of Shopian, while rest of approximately 40 kanals of land still under his possession is forest land encroached illegally.
The documents allegedly reveal that Taj has violated the norms of section 4 and section 8 of the constitution as experts in the field of revenue say that, in the chain of transfer of the same area of land from one person to another person, it is in fact out of the brain to understand how the same area of land bearing mutation number 493 can be transferred from one person to another person again and again by employing section 4 and section 8.
The documents also reveal that historically the same area of land which belonged to any Gul-khan has sold to Sardar Namak Singh son of Sardar Samak Singh of Gadpora Tral and finally in an unknown method, ownership rights of the same land belongs to Taj Mohi-ud-din nowadays.
When contacted, forest minister Bali Bhagat said that in any case forest land illegally occupied by Taj would be recovered and there would no delay in work as government is committed to recover forest land encroached by politicians and bureaucrats over the years.
