Two narco smugglers held another escapes; 175 kgs bhukki, 1 Kg Charas recovered

Banihal, July 31: As a part of drive against menace of drug peddlers, Ramban police today recovered huge consignment of contraband comprising kilogram of Charas (Cannabis) and 175 kgs of poppy straw (Bhukki) during surprise nakas held along national highway in three different incidents and nabbed two smugglers while hunt is on for the third accused. The accused have been identified namely as Mohd Khursheed S/o Mehtab Din R/o Dalwas and Kamaljeet Singh S/o Mohan Singh R/o Jassian Road, Friends Colony Ludhiana of Punjab while hunt is on to nab the third accused.
Police sources said that a team led by SHO PS Batote Inspector Arun Kotwal under the supervision of Mohd Rafiq Choudhary, DySP Hqrs and Randeep Kumar, Sr Superintendent of Police, Ramban laid a naka at Baggu Nallah and halted one maruti van bearing regd no: 2958- JK19, on way from Kashmir towards Batote. "During search of vehicle, 20 pieces of Charas (Cannabis) weighing 01 Kg were found concealed in a cloth bag, police said furer adding, "apart from Charas, 30 Kg of Poppy straw (bhukki) was also recovered which was concealed in two large plastic bags, police said. Police added that driver of the vehicle Mohd Khursheed S/o Mehtab Din R/o Dalwas has been arrested on the spot and a case FIR No. 82/2015 u/s 8/15/20 NDPS Act stands registered against the accused at P/S Batote.
In a similar incident, a police team led by SHO P/S Ramban Inspector Ajay Singh Chib under the laid a special naka at Shan Palace on highway and intercepted a truck which sped up further instead of halting. "Police got the truck bearing registration no: PB10EH - 1097 halted at Mehar some five kms away from Ramban after giving it hot chase, police said, further added that the truck was subjected to through search." "During search of the vehicle, Police team recovered 15 Kg of poppy straw (Bhukki) from the vehicle which was concealed in a special fabricated place under the fuel tank.'
Police said, "On this, driver of the vehicle identified as Kamaljeet Singh S/o Mohan Singh R/o Jassian Road, Friends Colony Ludhiana of Punjab was arrested on the spot and a case FIR No. 76/2015 u/s 8/15 NDPS Act & FIR No. 119/177 MV act has been registered against the driver.
Meantime in another major success against poppy straw smugglers, a police team led by SHO PS Ramsoo Inspector Nazir Ahmed Dar, under the supervision of Mohd Rafiq, SDPO Banihal, Addl SP Ramban Arun Gupta and overall supervision of Randeep Kumar, Sr Superintendent of Police, Ramban laid a special naka at Makarkot.
Police team signaled a truck bearing registration no: JK02T- 0773 coming from Kashmir to Jammu, but the driver of the vehicle sped away with the vehicle. "The vehicle was chased but driver of the vehicle abandoned the vehicle after some distance and escaped from the spot, police said. "During the search of the vehicle, police recovered seven bags filled with poppy straw (total weight upto 130 Kgs) loaded in the truck, police said Accordingly a case FIR NO. 53/2015 u/s 8/15 NDPS Act has been registered at PS Ramsoo and investigation starts by police.
