BJP and betrayal one and the same thing
An unpardonable act

Early Times Report
Jammu, July 31: The unscrupulous BJP has yet again proved that it and betrayal means one and the same thing and to believe it would be to commit a sin against the nation and the vast nationalist camp in the militant and separatist-infested Jammu & Kashmir. It has proved beyond any shadow of doubt that it is the most undependable party in the country and that it has no commitment to the nation and to its own constituency and it is nothing but a party of "thugs, cheaters, liars, bluffers and extremely selfish elements". But more than that, it has yet again proved that it can go to any extent to appease those indulging in, preaching and giving an effect to the dangerous sub-nationalism in the Valley.
That the BJP is a party of liars and cheaters can be seen from what it did in a most shameless manner on Thursday to its own constituency in Jammu region that catapulted it to power in March this year. The BJP ministers, along with three MLAs, had assured and reassured the AIIMS Coordination Committee (ACC), Which has been spearheading a popular and mass movement in Jammu region for the establishment of AIIMS in Jammu for more than two months now, that it would obtain a proper order from the BJP-led NDA Government at the Centre, but what it did on Thursday was just to the contrary. Its national leadership issued a vague order hoping that the BJP would be able to beguile yet again the agitating people of Jammu region, but its vague assurance boomeranged with the outraged ACC and its constituents rejecting it outright with the contempt it deserved and reiterating that the declared 72-hour-long bandh from today would be enforced, the "ugly face of the BJP would be blackened beyond recognition and no BJP leader and minister would be allowed any space in the region's socio-political arena. "The people of Jammu region will completely decimate the BJP," the ACC chairman Abhinav Sharma said in a hurriedly convened press conference here on Thursday after it came to know that the "BJP has yet again betrayed Jammu". The vague statement issued by Union Health Minister JP Nadda only said that an AIIMS would be set up in Jammu & Kashmir and AIIMS-like facilities would also be provided to people of Jammu region.
The ACC and the people of Jammu region had not been fighting for AIIMS-like facilities; they were fighting for that institution that was announced by the Union Finance Minister, Arun Jaitley, on the floor of the Lok Sabha on February 28, which was hailed then and there by MoS in the PMO Jitendra Singh - an announcement that was hailed by the BJP in Jammu region. And they unleashed a relentless campaign when the people of Jammu region were told by the state government on March 1, 2015 that the proposed AIIMS will be set up in Kashmir. Mercifully, BJP leader and Deputy Chief Minister Nirmal Singh made common cause with the Kashmiri party and declared that no power on earth could "snatch AIIMS from Kashmir and it will not be established in Jammu" and he made this outrageous statement on the day people across Jammu region observed a complete shutdown against the BJP.
What the "ungrateful, insensitive, obstinate and fundamentally Kashmir-centric" BJP did to the nationalist constituency in Jammu region on Thursday was its fifth act of betrayal. It committed the first act of betrayal on March 1, 2015, when it handed over the AIIMS to Kashmir even before it became part of the anti-Jammu establishment in the state. Remember, the "obnoxious" agenda of alliance was drafted and approved by the BJP-PDP combine on or before February 25 and it, among other nasty things, said that AIIMS will be established in the Valley. The BJP committed second act of betrayal on the same day (March 1), when it gave 12 out of 17 berths to Kashmir in the Cabinet and sealed the fate of Jammu region and Ladakh. The rigorous exclusion of Jammu region from the all-powerful cabinet was condemned in the region by one and all as an act of betrayal. The BJP committed third act of betrayal on June 18, when it misled the otherwise responsible ACC by giving a written commitment that it would obtain a proper order on the issue of AIIMS. It demanded time and the ACC gave the time the BJP demanded. And when July 20 came, the BJP showed thumb to the ACC and the people of the region.
It's no wonder then that the entire population of Jammu region is up in revolt against the BJP. There is no doubt that the BJP will have to pay through its nose for its acts of betrayal. There should also be no doubt that the BJP would be completely rejected by the people of the region as and when they get an opportunity, which they may get very soon. That the BJP has fallen from the grace and has no argument to defend itself became manifestly clear in the Thursday evening when not a single BJP leader came forward at the party headquarters to face the media. At was around 5 pm that BJP's state spokesperson and media in-charge, Balbir Ram, invited the press at party headquarters to cover the celebrations for announcement of AIIMS in Jammu. When reporters, along with crew, reached the venue, to their surprise there was no senior leader or Minister to answer the queries/questions. Of course, scores of the beguiled party workers were dancing on the drum beats and distributing sweets among each other. Remember, the bluffer BJP after 4.30 pm launched a misinformation campaign through social network media to make the people believe that PM Modi had sanctioned an AIIMS for Jammu and its purpose was to puncture and defeat the ongoing movement in Jammu region and scuttle the 72-hour-long bandh call.
