JAMMU, Aug 1: Khalsa Club clinched the title trophy of Bhalwal Premier League-2 (Cosco ball) Cricket Tournament after they defeated Junoon Cricket Club Chinore by four wickets in the final played at Bhalwal, near here. Earlier, Junoon Club won the toss and decided to bat first they made 139 runs for six wickets in given 15 overs, which, in reply, Khalsa chased losing six wickets that too sparing 2.5 overs of their innings. Yasin remained top scorer from Junoon with 24-ball 46 runs while Deepak and Azan contributed 29 and 26 runs respectively. From Khalsa Club, Arif took three wickets while Anku emerged as most successful with two for 15 in three overs. Later, Khalsa chased the target of 140 runs in 12.1 overs with four wickets in hand. Bawa played fine innings of 19 ball 48 runs including six sixes and two fours. Sourav made valuable contribution of 25 runs off 19 deliveries. Aman bagged three wickets for 18 runs and Monu took two for 26 from Junoon Club. For his match winning knock of 48 runs coming off 19 deliveries, Bawa was adjudged man of the match. Abhi Barana was declared man of the series for taking away 13 wickets and making three fifties in the tournament. Tehsildar Bhalwal, Vijay Sharma was chief guest while Station House Officer Gharota was guest of honour. As per the organisers, the winning team awarded with Rs 30,000 and runners-up got Rs 20,000 as cash prizes. The organising committee of this tournament included Rimmpu, Simmpu, Bobby, Kapil, Sanposar, Rakesh Abrol, Sunny and Sarpanch Raj Dev Jamwal of Bhalwal. |
