Aadhar based Biometric Attendance System launched in DC office Jammu

JAMMU, Aug 1: Barely a day after Chief Minister asked Government Offices to shift to the Biometric Attendance System, Jammu District launched the Aadhaar enabled Biometric Attendance System (BAS).
To begin with, the Deputy Commissioner's Office, adopted this e-governance initiative, developed by the NIC, Jammu.
The BAS was today inaugurated by Divisional Commissioner, Jammu Pawan Kotwal, here. Deputy Commissioner Jammu, Simrandeep Singh was the first employee in the district to mark his attendance on the said portal. DIO, NIC Jammu, Sanjay Gupta was also present on this occasion and he highlighted the features of this newly introduced attendance system.
The initiative has been developed by NIC and is user friendly as the employees can mark their attendance simply by entering the last 8 digits of their Aadhaar number and thereafter imprinting any one of their fingers on the Biometric attendance device. Both Incoming and Outgoing attendance will have to marked by the employees.
Speaking on the occasion, DC, Jammu, Simrandeep Singh said that the system will assist the authorities to easily compile and scrutinize the attendance of employees leading to strengthening of reward and penalty system in Government Offices. Moreover, it will be effective in rural tehsils as the attendance can be regularly monitored by DC Office online.
Initially this system has been introduced in Deputy Commissioner's Office, Jammu and gradually it will be extended to other Offices of the District. A formal order to this effect was issued by the Deputy Commissioner requiring all employees of DC Office to mark attendance online from 1st August. A total of 10 USB hand held desktop devices have been installed in various sections of DC Office for marking the attendance.
The Divisional Commissioner & Deputy Commissioner Jammu appreciated the efforts of NIC for advising an economical solution to the administration and for contributing to good governance initiative in the State.
