Ex-Prez's JKHCBA condemn police action against peaceful AIIMS-CC protest | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Aug 1: The former Presidents of J&K High Court Bar Association P S Dutta, Ved Raj Wazir, Mahinder Kumar Bhardwaj, Sardar Surinder Singh, O P Sharma and DS Saini in a joint statement have condemned the police action on Abhinav Sharma President JKHCBA and other peaceful protesters on Saturday. "The unprovoked attack on the peaceful protesters and chairman of AIIMS coordination committee Mr Abhinav Sharma while he was peacefully protesting along with members of the public is irreprehensible and condemnable beyond words, they stated. It is shocking that Sharma was deliberately targeted by the police and hit with a teargas shell that caused grievous injuries to him, they said and added, "This despicable act of the administration will not be tolerated either by the legal fraternity or people of Jammu region and every possible remedial action would be taken that meets the ends of justice." They also added that the imposition of Section 144 CrPC in the city areas without any provocation whatsoever is an act of cowardice and reflects total incompetence and failure of the administration. "We demand that a high-level probe should be ordered by Chief Minister immediately to probe the circumstances under which Mr Sharma and other people were assaulted while protesting peacefully, the signatories added. |
