JAMMU, Aug 2 : Semifinals position has been cleared with the entry of Jatt kaka Club and Gandhi Nagar Club in the last four stages of the ongoing Shaheed Bhagat Singh Cricket Tournament at Government Higher Secondary School ground, Satwari, here today. Other teams already placed in the semifinals are Lions Cricket Club and Junior Khalsa Cricket Club. In the quarterfinals, played today, Jatt Kaka Club defeated MCCC by five wickets. Earlier, batting first, MCCC made 121 runs for nine wickets. Parveen remained top scorer with 51 runs cominag off 35 balls while Shubam contributed 9-ball 20 runs to the total. From Jatt Kaka, Monu bagged three wickets and Akshay secured two. Batting second, JKCC chased the total making 122 runs for five wickets in 18 overs. Punit made highest 35 runs, followed by Ashu and Jatt Kaka, who contributed 19 runs each. Somay Jain secured two wickets while Ritik, Satish and Rohit shared apiece each from MCCC. Monu was declared man of the match. This match was officiated by Aman Cheema and Pankaj Khajuria as umpires while Dheeraj Jasrotia was scorer. Meanwhile, in other quarter final of the day, Gandhi Nagar Cricket Club defeated Evershine Club. The match was awarded to Gandhi Nagar considering first six overs average after rain interrupted the game. Batting first, Evershine scored 85 runs losing all their wickets in 19 overs. Hardeep and Param were main contributors to the total with 21 and 26 runs respectively. Binder, Dheeraj and Bunty shared two wickets each. In reply, Gandhi Nagar batted confidently and were playing at 40 for one in 10 overs when rains stopped the play forcing the organisers to decide the fate of the match considering first six overs play. Bunty was named man of the match.
