Bhaderwah, Aug 2 : The Bhaderwah valley today remained cut off from the rest of the state due to a major landslide in Sanai on Sunday, blocking the Doda-Bhaderwah road and leaving hundreds of vehicles stranded. According to sources, the landslide was triggered after rains in the area, around 18 kms from the district headquarter of Doda, at about 3 PM, officials said. Over 200 vehicles were stranded on both sides of the road due to the incident. When last report came in authorities have not yet started clearing the blocked stretch as landsliding and shooting stones were continue. "The Doda Bhaderwah road becomes a death trap and if care is not taken, one can get buried deep under the debris of landslides without any chance of getting noticed till the time machines are not pressed into service", Naresh Gupta said. |
