Early Times Report

JAMMU, Aug 2: In the wake of tense situation prevailing due to the ongoing Jammu bandh call given by the AIIMS Coordination Committee, the administration is not taking any chances as far as the safety of the VVIPs is concerned as it has beefed up the security ofBJP ministers and legislators, in particular, keeping in view the public ire they may face for their 'failure' to ensure a separate AIIMS for Jammu region.
The police is making sure that all loopholes concerning the security of VVIPs are timely plugged in so as to avoid any untoward incident since the senior officers are well that under present circumstances people may resort to violence againstBJP leaders as they might not hesitate in venting their anger on those who are held responsible for depriving the public from a very sensitive issue like setting up of AIIMS in Jammu region.
While the security has been tightened at the residences of almost all the BJP Ministers and legislators, the police have laid special emphasis on augmenting the security apparatus around the houses of Deputy Chief Minister Dr Nirmal Singh and Health Minister Choudhary Lal Singh.
Sources informed Early Times that the administration has ordered barbed wire fencing of the official residence of Dy CM Singh while the number of securitymen guarding the houses of BJP MLAs has also been enhanced.
Sources further divulged that the security of Health Minister Choudhary Lal Singh has also been beefed adding that not only his Jammu residence but his house at Kathua are under strict vigil of the police.
"The additional security personnel have been deployed at Lal Singh's Kathua residence as clashes between the protesting people and BJP workers were reported due to which the police as well as civil administration want to get their act together before any eventuality arises," sources said.
"The heavily armed policemen deployed at Health Minister's Kathua residence have been directed to deal firmly with the hostile crowd in case of their resorting to any act of violenc. The security personnel have been told in clear terms to maintain law and order at any cost," they added.
