Jammu situation bothers patients | | | Shiv Dev Thakur Early Times Report
Katra, Aug 3: The prevailing situation in Jammu has been bothering the tourists and the tourist players believe that prolonged agitation on AIIMS may adversely affect the economy. Tourism which was supposed to reach its zenith is showing a downward trend. Strikes, ceasefire violations and cloudbursts across the state has scared the tourists including the pilgrims who wish to seek Darshan of the holy places in Jammu and Kashmir, whether Shri Amarnath Ji or Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Ji as well as Shiv Khori, have suffered. According to the data available, the pilgrimage of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Ji is also showing a downward trend owing to the disturbances emerging in State. An official of tourism department said that the tourism is also suffering from a loss due to these consequences as many of the tourists seen cancelling their booking owing to the strikes. Arvind Mathur, a pilgrim said the situation emerging in Jammu was not conducive for tourism. A hotelier while taking to the Early Times expressed his anguish over the situation. He added Swine flu, floods and incessant rains wreaked havoc in the state last year and the strikes have only added fuel to fire. According to him the business community has suffered a lot. |
