| Punished for being well wisher of BJP | | | To

I came to know about the appointment of Dr Gagan Bhagat as the political advisor of the State BJP President through media reporting today. As per these reports the appointment has been made in supersession of all previous orders meaning that the State BJP has decided to remove me as the political advisor of the state BJP president. There is no doubt that the BJP President in the state and the party hierarchy have the powers to take such a decision but the way decision has been taken clearly indicates that normal political propriety and democratic tradition has not been followed in this matter. Party echelons could have taken me into confidence and if they had any doubts in my functioning they would have communicated that to me appropriately. It seems that my views which I duly chose to articulate privately to the concerned persons and appropriate fora in the party about the dangers of embarking on a course in Jammu and Kashmir by forming an alliance with PDP has not gone well with the party leaders who want to pursue this course at any price come what may. I did articulate these views in the public domain only after I found that the party was not ready to review its policies in Jammu and Kashmir even at the cost of decimating the party base in Jammu. I after due consideration wrote open letters to the National President of the Party hoping that the issues might be taken seriously as per their merits. It is now clear that the party has chosen to punish me for being the well wisher of BJP.
I cannot still believe that a party which espoused the cause of national integrity and cultural nationalism can chose to take a reverse course. The policy of BJP in Jammu and Kashmir brings out very clearly that BJP has ceased to be the party it proclaimed to be.
I wonder how can soft-secessionism with which the party has chosen to enter into a marriage nourishes nationalism. I am unable to understand the willful blindness imposed by the Party hierarchy so that they don't see the subversive damage done by soft-secessionism to all aspects of national interests in the state. I was baffled when the party leaders chose to articulate that people in Kashmir were not responsible for the expulsion of Kashmiri Hindus. That they were using the same arguments as deployed by the Congress leader Digvijay Singh seemed to have no consequence for them. Party echelons chose to abandon West Pakistani refugees by starting to talk about one time packages that reduced their problem of denial of citizenship to mere words of sustenance and livelihood. It only smacked of betraying their cause.
It seems present leadership of BJP is either dangerously naïve or working on some agenda for which all nationalistic concerns are an anathema. Why BJP did chose to accept what has been written in Agenda of Alliance? Why BJP did choose to delegitimize and undermine its mandate in Jammu? Why did BJP chose to ignore that people of Jammu did not vote for it because they were even remotely sure that the party can form a government in the state? People of Jammu voted for BJP because they thought that the party can become a political vehicle in their fight against separatism, communalism, international intrigue, demographic assault and discrimination. They voted for BJP in the hope that it will become its citadel for fighting the ideological war unleashed on the nationalist people of the state by Pakistan and communal establishment in the state. BJP chose to walk on the same track laid by Congress. It chose to call all such compromises in the state which it otherwise called pseudo secularism and subversion when it was out of power as tactics and strategy when they came to power. In fact BJP chose to make all what it described as subversion and pseudo secularism as the plank to make a government in the state . It hostaged its mandate to soft-separatism. That it will lead to the decimation of BJP in Jammu has been my concern which I have tried to articulate in all fora of the party. And when I felt that the such issues which are a matter of life and death for the struggle against separatism in Jammu and Kashmir are being ignored I wrote openly to the national President of the party.
Happenings in Jammu are a testimony of my right judgment that BJP is fast losing its clout in Jammu. It is in fact becoming a pariah party for the people. It is getting wrapped in a thick shroud of mistrust. The ongoing AIIMS agitation in Jammu and overwhelming support of the people that it has received is a testimony of the fact that BJP’s credibility in Jammu is bleeding fast and it may soon get into a shock. The bungling of BJP on the issue of AIIMS establishment has once again reflected that the party high command is not interested at all in correcting the regional discriminatory order in the state. When BJP squandered the advantage of its massive mandate in Jammu and entered into a one sided, abjectly slavish alliance with PDP I was very clear that BJP has abdicated its ideological role and is also not interested in the issue of discrimination suffered by Jammu all through its history after the accession of the state with India.
For you, who is the party president of the state BJP, it is my last advice, even though unsolicited, that save the party by standing up to the wrong policies of the central leadership and not pursue the present course which is suicidal for all the BJP workers, MLAs and Ministers.
