Kathua, Aug 27: Legal Metrology Department Kathua today imposed penalty of Rs 44,000 traders for not abiding the laid norms. According to official communiqué, LMD team headed by the Assistant Controller Legal Metrology Kathua, Ajay Verma and comprising of Vicky Sharma and Devi Lakhanpuria conducted intensive checking of various Business Establishments especially Kiryana Shops, Scrap Dealers, Bartan Shops, Milk Shops, Goldsmith, Hardware shops, Cement and Steel traders, Provisional shops, Gas Agencies, Dispensing units, Atta Chackis, Sweets shops, Meat Sellers, Vegetable and Fruit Sellers, Wholesalers, flour Mills and Oil Mills during the current month. The inspection was conducted at Chadwal, Dayalachack, Bakhta, Gura Mundian, Dhanni, Nagri, Kalyanpur, Logate Morh, Haripur, Gujru Nagrota, Bhaddu, Phinter, Railway Road Kathua, Industrial Area Kathua, Kathua town and adjoining Areas. During Inspection over 138 traders were inspected. A total of 28 traders were booked for violation of various provisions of J&K Weights and Measures Enforcement (Amendment) Act 2011 and Package Commodities and 26 Challans of the booked traders were Compounded and a penalty of Rs 44000 was imposed on the erring traders for violation of various provisions of J&K weights and Measures (Amendment) Act 2011 and Package Commodities Rules during the current month. During the inspection the Department also booked one Oil Mill for violation of various provisions of the Act and with the assurance of Company not to repeat the same violation in future the case was compounded by the team and penalty of Rs 1000 was imposed. |
