jammu, Aug 27: The executive agency for Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY), which aims to provide road connectivity to people living in far flung areas, has not been able to complete a stretch of road measuring 12 kilometer from Kud Madda to Patla of Udhampur district in 10 years. Jai Kumar, sarpanch of Madha told Early Times that the road project from Kud Madda to Patla was sanctioned by the Centre in 2005-06, but even after 10 years, the agency could not complete the earth work till date. Similarly, another seventeen KM road project from Guzzar to Childi was sanctioned in the year 2008 and the earthwork was initiated in the same year but later on the construction of this road was stopped without any reason, they added and also alleged that the compensation of land to the land owners was also not disbursed till date. "Many times the delegation of sarpanchs including Madha, Childi, Kither, Katwalt and Kud met with higher authority of agency concerned, Deputy Commissioner, but all in vain as no one is bothered to listen to the pleas of poor people", Kumar said. Khem Raj Sarpanch of Kitther Panchayat said that around 30 thousands souls reside in five panchyats but yet they do not have road connectivity. Everyday people of these panchyats covers several miles of distance on foot after that they receive transport facilities. It was difficult for local youth to study as they have to go to college in Chenani town. They all in voice urged Chief Minister Mufti Mohmmad Sayeed to personally intervene in this matter and directed district administration, agency concerned to accelerate the construction work of said roads. When contacted, XEN PMGSY Udhampur Ravi Raina said that delay in completion of road project from Kud Madda to Patla because in this project two bridges fall one is completed and another is in progress. "Road project from Guzzar to Childi was delayed due to forest clearance around nine kilometer road stretch falls in forest, in the end of previous year forest department gave clearance and the construction of this road is in progress", Raina said, adding that he hope that if the weather would remain conducive the road would be completed in March, 2016.
