Early Times Report

Jammu, Aug 30: Further discrediting his party, the BJP Member Legislative Assembly (MLA) has allegedly grabbed land in his constituency with the help of his PSOs and started construction.
According to sources, MLA Chenani, Dina Nath Bhagat has encroached upon a piece of land illegally and with the help of his PSOs started construction on said land.
"Since MLA encroached the land and started construction, no body dared to stop him. It has been proved that the land belonged to Mohd Aslam Chandial, but under political pressure administration has turned mute spectators", they said.
"In 1984 Anayatullah uncle of Mohd Aslam had sold 10 marlas of land (five marlas to Dina Nath Bhagat and five marlas to Sudershan Devi wife of Dina Nath Bhagat) situated near Liberty Shoe Showroom, Shajalta. After buying the land, he (MLA) in 1996 tried to encroach the one marla of land belonging to Aslam, but since the case is pending before the high court, Jammu. The MLA forcefully started construction work", they added.
They further said that recently the MLA encroached a piece of land measuring four marlas. "Recently he (MLA) captured four more marlas of agricultural land and is changing the user thereof by illegally raising construction without getting construction plan approved from Municipal Authorities", the alleged. They further said that the land owners have already taken up the matter with Deputy Commissioner, who, however directed Municipal Council to stop ongoing construction work.
"Receiving complaint from land owner, DC Udhampur had ordered CEO Municipal Council, Udhampur to immediately stop the construction till further order. But under the influence of MLA the CEO failed to comply with DC's order, Police too has taken no action against the MLA turned land grabber", they added. They further said that MLA's son Naresh Bhagat is public prosecutor in session Court Udhampur, and so the law enforcing agencies are also turning a blind eye.
When contacted Deputy Commissioner, Udhampur Dr Shahid Iqbal said that construction has been stopped. "I called both parties on tomorrow(Monday) along-with land documents. Further action can be taken only after going through the documents", he added.
However, the Deputy Commissioner said that on August 27, he received a complaint regarding illegal construction and CEO Municipal Council, Udhampur immediately stopped work. "I don't know who is constructing the structure", he added.
