Jammu, Aug 31: In a much publicized PIL regarding discrimination is being meted out the both languages of State of J&K Dogri whereas announcements at Railway Stations in regional languages besides in Hindi & English is being made by the Indian Railways, a Division Bench of State High Court comprising Justice Muzaffar Hussain Attar and Justice BS Walia, directed respondents to follow their own policies/guidelines issued vide No. 87/M/(C)/202/10 Volume-II in regard to Dogri language and directed them for implementing the same be taken within six weeks. After hearing Adv BR Manhas in person whereas CGSC PS Chandel for the Union of India, the Division bench disposed of the PIL by directing respondents to follow their own policies/ guidelines issued vide No 87/M/(C)/202/10 Volume-II dated 09 August, 2007 in so far as use of Dogri language in Dogri Script on the destination board/ belly boards of the trains originating from and termination at Jammu Tawi Railway Station, Udhampur Railway Station, Kata Vaishnodevi Railway Station and all other stations located in Jammu Division of the State of Jammu and Kashmir. "The steps for implementing the same be taken within six weeks, the division bench said. The petitioner has submitted that in the states of Bengal, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Assam, Orissa, the same is not being done in the state of J&K where the announcements at Railway stations is being done only in Hindi and English instead of Dogri and Kashmiri.
