Moderate quake rocks Kashmir, Ladakh; no damage reported | | | Early Times Report Srinagar, Aug 31: An earthquake of moderate intensity rocked Kashmir and Ladakh, forcing people to rush out of their homes in panic early this morning. However, due to system failure following problem in the Broadband of Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL), the Meteorological department could not give any details about the quake. Official sources said the 4.3 magnitude at Richter Scale occurred at 0557 hrs early in the morning in the Kashmir valley and Ladakh region, lasting in few seconds. People rushed out of their homes in panic. Sourcess said the epicentre of the quake was located at 189 km North-East of Kargil and 187 km North of Leh near border. They said there was no report of any loss of life or damage to property due to the quake. |
