Poonch, Aug 31: The inhabitants of border areas near to the Line of Control in Jammu division have appealed the government to provide overall safety and essential amenities for the welfare of the people living in the region.
The residents said that the, people of Dharati, Bharooti, Balakote, and Dheri Dabbsi Panchyats of Balakote areas are facing a war-like situation as there is a costant exchange of firing in the region. "We have been living under a constant shadow of threat", the residents said. Owing to this threatening situation, the locals have demanded for various amenities to be provided to the local residents.
The locals have asked the government to build a Pucca bunker for every individual family so that the family may take shelter in the bunker at the time of shelling. (It is important to be mentioned here that the population of the area is scattered and every family should have and individual Banker).
At least five marlas of land should also be allotted to every family in a safe zone of the Tehsil Mendhar preferably in Village Gohlad, Dharana, Kotian, and Ari or Galhutta wherefrom the people of Balakote could easily move in case of any exigency, the statement said. |
