Early Times Report

JAMMU, Aug 31: With the retirement of DG (jails) P L Gupta, transfers of top police officers are on the cards in the state.
Gupta attained superannuation today.
Since the post of DG, jails, has fallen vacant with his retirement, a new police officer of the rank of DGP was likely to posted there, according to police sources.
Transfers in the state police administration have not been effected for the past sometime.
"With the Gupta's retirement, top police officers from the rank of SP to ADGP are likely to be transferred soon," the sources added. Sources said the PDP top brass had already asked BJP to take decisions for the transfers and postings of senior police officers in Jammu region.
While the BJP had already prepared a list of its favourite officers for their posting in Jammu region, police headquarters too had made up its mind to post some meritorious officers in the region.
Sources said BJP would make every effort to get the officers of its choice posted as the heads of districts.
Some senior police officers, who were attached with the police headquarters, would also be given postings, the sources added.
