Jammu, Aug 31: The inmates of Amphalla old Age home were in for a pleasant surprise when a group of children from Model Academy School, B.C. Road and Residency road branch called on them. The students had gone there to celebrate Senior Citizen's Day which is celebrated all over India on 30th August with the senior citizens and distributed sweets, fruits, bread and biscuits. The purpose of the visit was to make the children aware about the importance of seniors in the family and the love and respect needed to be given to them. The students had a wonderful interaction with the senior citizens who were equally happy to meet the children. A special morning assembly was also held in which the students of classes 3rd to 5th highlighting the love and respect for elders. Beautiful cards were also presented by the students to the senior citizens of the school. In his message to the students, Dr. Arun K Gupta, Chairman, MIER said that children should take out some time to talk to their grandparents and also treat them with grace and honour. Officiating Principal, Usha Gadoo and Management representative, Rupa Gupta, in their message said that senior citizens are the assets of the society and we look upon them for guidance and advice hence it is our duty to look after them and show respect, love and care. |
