Akshay Azad Early Times Report JAMMU, Sept 1: There seems to be no takers for Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 'Swachh Bharat Abhiyan' campaign in BJP's bastion Jammu. A hoarding with Modi's picture and erected along roadside at Gandhi Nagar is almost hidden behind long bushes, reflecting insensitivity of the BJP leadership in Jammu. The Housing and Urban Development portfolio is headed by none other than BJP's strong man and Deputy Chief Minister Dr. Nirmal Singh. The BJP state unit had raised the hoarding near Main Stop crossing along Bikaram Chowk. Besides Modi, the billboard has photos of Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, Member Parliament Jugal Kishore Sharma, Deputy CM Nirmal Singh, Dr. Jitendra Singh and other senior leaders of the State BJP. The billboard is almost completely covered by long grown bushes and only some portion of it is visible from the road, which explains the fate of much touted 'Swachh Bharat Abhiyan' launched by Modi. Notably, majority of bureaucrats, politicians and ministers have their quarters in Gandhi Nagar area. He said, "Ironically, Nirmal Singh, who is also the HUDD Minister, lives in the same locality, but his department seems unaware about the filthy area." |
