India a mighty nation, wants PM Modi to act
Accept Pakistani challenge

Early Times Report
jammu, Sept 2: Pakistan has crossed all the red lines. Its Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif has warned India that it will suffer "heavy losses" which it would "remember for decades" if it tried to "impose" a war on his country. "Pakistan's armed forces will defend every inch of their motherland at every cost," he said while talking to media during his visit to village Kundunpur along the international border in Sialkot, near Jammu, and added that "If India tries to impose war on Pakistan, heavy losses will be inflicted on India which it will remember for decades". "Cowardly acts by Indian forces have strengthened the determination of the nation to defend the motherland," he also said, adding "India's real face is exposed as it is supporting terrorism in Pakistan and creating tension on borders through unprovoked firing along the working boundary and line of control". His nasty comments came in the backdrop of heightened tensions along the border and LoC after Pakistan called off NSA-level talks set for August 24 when India made it clear that discussions on Kashmir and a meeting with separatists will not be acceptable.
The same day, Prime Minister Mian Nawaz Sharif told the visiting US National Security Advisor Susan Rice in Islamabad that Pakistan wanted a "meaningful" and "objective" dialogue with India on all outstanding issues. In his meeting with Rice, Sharif, while talking about ties with India, informed the US delegation the reasons behind the cancellation of talks between NSAs of India and Pakistan, Dawn News reported.
If Pakistan's Defence Minister warned India of dire consequence and Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif sought to internalize the Kashmir issue by raising Kashmir during his talks with Rice, its National Security Advisor Sartaj Aziz provoked India a day later saying that India will have to talk to Pakistan on the Pakistani terms and conditions and that Islamabad would do all that it could to force New Delhi to resolve the Kashmir issue. "Islamabad will not resume dialogue with New Delhi unless all bilateral issues were placed on the agenda. Security advisor-level talks between India and Pakistan could not be held due to India's pre-conditions," Radio Pakistan cited him as saying in an interview.
Despite these grave provocations, New Delhi has strangely thought it proper to not give any response to Pakistan. This is not a good diplomacy. You cannot allow your enemy to say what it wants. Such an attitude only emboldens the enemy. You need to give an appropriate response without losing a moment. There is no reason why India should watch the Pakistani provocations as a mute spectator. The Indian nation doesn't appreciate such an attitude on the part of New Delhi. After all, India is a great country - five-time bigger than Pakistan. Population-wise also, it is almost six-time bigger than Pakistan. In military strength, India is far more superior, besides being a nuclear state. Besides, India has already inflicted four crushing defeats on Pakistan in 1947-1948, 1965, 1971 and 1999. But more than that, India has balkanized Pakistan by creating out of it Bangladesh. The mood of the nation calls for a befitting reply to the rogue Pakistan. On August 22, Foreign Minister Sushma Swaraj did the right thing by taking an appropriate stand on talks between the two nations and the need of the time is carry forward her foreign policy vis-à-vis Pakistan.
It is hoped that the Modi Government would strengthen the hands of Sushma Sawraj and direct Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar to bring Pakistan to justice so that a right message goes across the globe that India no longer tolerates any provocative action from Pakistani side. Action against Pakistan has also become imperative in the wake of what Army Chief General Dalbir Singh Suhag said on Tuesday. He accused Pakistan of adopting new tactics to extend the "arc of violence" and creating unrest in Jammu & Kashmir. "Our threats and challenges have become more complex. As a result, the commitments of the Army have increased manifold in scope and intensity over the past few years. (Because of) the frequency of ceasefire violation and infiltration bids by our western neighbour, the border remains live and active. We are acutely aware that the short and swift nature of future wars is likely to offer limited warning time… It calls for maintaining high levels of operational preparedness at all times, something that has now become inherent in our operational strategy," he said in Delhi while speaking at a function organized to mark the golden jubilee of the 1965 Indo-Pak War.
Not only this, the Modi Government also needs to direct the coalition Government in Jammu & Kashmir to adopt tough stand on those handful of separatists who have been exploiting the weak-kneed policies and systematically muddying the Indian waters in the state.
