Early Times Report Jammu, Sept 2: In the Udhampur terror attack case, NIA today produced Showkat Ahmed Bhat of Pulwama, who was arrested yesterday, before NIA Special Judge Y P Kotwal who granted his 14 days police remand. The application to seek his police remand was filed by Assistant Investigation Officer NIA DSP Rajesh Bakshi. The CD file revealed that the accused was arrested in FIR NO 159/2015 registered at police station, Pulwama, for the offences under section 18/19 of unlawful Activities Act and 7/25 Arms Act, however by virtue of an order passed by CJM Pulwama Abdul Majid Dar on August 27, 2015, custody of the accused has been handed over to NIA for investigation in case RC08/2015/NIA/DLI of P/S NIA dated August 6, 2015 arising out of FIR NO 60/2015 dated August 5, 2015 registered in Police Station Chenani. The court observed that perusal of the file reveals that investigation of the case is in progress and for taking investigation to its logical conclusion, custodial interrogation of the accused who had allegedly transported the accused Naved and others from border area to their hide out, was must. The court after keeping in view of the stage of investigation and the offences involved in case, allowed the application of NIA and remanded the accused to police custody for a period of 14 days and directed NIA to produce the accused before the competent court on the expiry of remand period and directed that accused be medically examined after every 48 hours.
