Banihal, Sept 3: The slow execution works of different link roads under Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojna (PMGSY) in Banihal irks the residents of far flung areas of Banihal. Sources within the department said that during the past eight years this agency hardly completed four link roads in Banihal. The Villagers of far flung areas of Banihal said that they provide their lands for the construction of roads but still the six to seven years has gone but their roads were not completed by the PMGSY. As per the sources PMGSY in Banihal seven years back started the work on more than two dozen link roads in the area among them only four roads are completed so for by the said agency in time bound manner of seven years.
A 30 km road stretch of Banihal -Mangit and Khari-Sarbagni 9.2 kilometers stretch become the victim of forest department, due to which the people of Mangit and Sarbagni areas suffer a lot. Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojna started a number of roads in PMGSY division Banihal some six years ago. The villagers provide hundreds of kannals of agricultural land for the execution of roads in their areas but unfortunately the said executive agency fails to provide all weather connectivity roads to the inhabitants of far flung villages.
Resident of Mangit said that they have provided their lands to the government in hope of road connectivity of their villages. They said they have lost both crop as well as land. The non availability of road connectivity in for flung areas of Banihal creates huge problems to the people of these areas.Locals of these non connected areas further said that in the time of this modern and global world they are still demanding for basic amenities when the people are talking of internet wifi and other things. They still lift their different material through donkeys or manually, they more said that they shift these patients on their back up to the road side for shifting them to hospitals and they are still living their life in 19 th century. Besides the road connectivity they are also suffered the non availability of other basic amenities in the far flung areas. Gyan Singh Executive Engineer PMGSY Division Banihal said that they are facing some problems due to which they are unable to work on a number of roads and bridges in Banihal and Ramsoo area of the district Ramban. He said that due to stay orders of court and non clearance from forest department the execution of many roads were stopped due to these problems .He said that in stage first they have completed 4 roads under PMGSY division Banihal and hope some will completed in future up to one year. Gayan Singh said that they have also submitted a plan of thirty 30 more roads for left out habitations of Ramsu and Banihal in the district Ramban as per census 2001 but the said plan not sanctioned till date and they are waiting for the sanction of that plan.
In Banihal many areas were connected due to the railway line passing through that areas. The Sumber area in Ramban district is connected by the railway authorities construct a link road for the construction of a railway tunnel in the area. The under construction road of that very area under PMGSY by other side is still incomplete. same are the cases in Sangaldan,Gool and Chanaar, Mishdil areas of Banihal where these villages are connected by the construction of railway line as the railway authorities constructed many link roads up to their construction sides which also gives the benefit to the dozens of villages in district Ramban.
