JAMMU, Sept 3 : Alexander Memorial School, Jammu celebrated Teachers' day in a unique manner. According to press release, Rajesh Gupta, MLA Jammu East, was the Chief Guest and ID Soni, State Commissioner Bharat Scouts and Guides, was the Guest of Honour. Rev. Udai Singh, Presbyter-in-charge St. Paul's Church, members of the Managing Committee and several other dignitaries also graced the occasion. The Principal, Esther William congratulated the teachers on such a solemn occasion and asked both the teaching and taught community to imbibe the teachings of Dr. Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan as well as Dr. Abdul Kalam. The senior students presented a mind-bending and enlightening Inter-Faith Intrinsic Integration Programme reciting Bhajans, Naat, Gurubani and Biblical prayers reflecting pluralistic society and the secular ethos of the country. It was followed by two short stories by tiny tots and a heart throbbing Qawali by the senior students. The Chief Guest gave away some prizes and also addressed the audience. In his brief but inspiring speech, he lauded the performance of the students and impressed upon them the need to preserve and strengthen our socio-cultural heritage and `Guru-Shish Parampara'. The whole programme was compered by S.K. Munshi, School Co-ordinator and the vote of thanks was presented by Ms. Rajni Kaul. |
