| Development suffers as BJP leaders' ego clashes take centrestage | | |  ET Report
Jammu, Sept 4: As the maxim goes that greatest trust between man and man is the trust of giving counsel, but for Bhartiya Janata Party leaders in Jammu, the trust deficit is so defined and widened that it is showing up in the development works in the urban confines even as there is total mismanagement and chaos.
Take for example the jugular vein in roads network in Jammu, particularly from Jewel Chowk to Chand Kour Samadhian uptown, the entire stretch is dilapidated and dug with pot holes and big craters that just do not add to the woes of the daily commuters, but are posing a severe life threat to all as in paucity of proper power arrangement in the area, the vehicular as well as commuting has turned prone to fatal accidents.
If the grapevine is to be believed, the concerned BJP MLA of the area Rajesh Gupta under whose jurisdiction this area falls , nothing substantial has been taken up by him since he owns responsibility and the debt to the people of the area who have voted him to power.
"There is a great cleavage of misunderstanding and fallout between the bigwig BJP senior leaders viz MLA Rajesh Gupta and the party's other leader Yudhvir Sethi that no development work has ever been initiated in the area despite umpteen reminders to the concerned MLA," Jugal Pradhan, a shopkeeper on Jewel road said while citing the example of non-coordination between the BJP leaders that are hurting the sentiments of the people of the area.
However sources privy to the party developments inform that not only there is some tussle of ideas in the cadre brewing, but since the formation of BJP-PDP Government, many different segments in the party have cropped up that are damaging the fabric of the Jammu based saffron party.
"There is always infringement of the people at the helm in the party that stall any Jammu developmental work, the price of which is being paid by the people who have voted BJP to power. The macadamization of Jewel Chowk-Chand Kour Samadhian road is not a big issue, but for the interference of the own people in the works is damaging the entire gamut of the party,' said the sources.
They further allege that Yudhvir Sethi, since the incorporation of Priya Sethi, his wife, as BJP MLA and then given the power of MoS in the State seems to have self-styled himself as the person of rank and file while demeaning the other lowly placed BJP leaders as well as the MLAs. This has raised a great resentment amongst the people who allege that it's the BJP leader Yudhvir who has gone pro-active and even started dictating terms to the bureaucratic clan in the system, the cognizance of which the party high command needs to take.
"Unless differences between the BJP leaders are not put to rest , not only the damaged road structures, but the entire developmental process would come to grinding halt, be it Jammu East MLA Rajesh Gupta's constituency or even any BJP Ministerial domain where he an excel and access freely," said the source which was equivocally agreed upon by the people of Jammu. |
