Early Times Report
Srinagar, Sept 8: Unhappy with the Government's decision of appointing B R Sharma as Jammu and Kashmir New Chief Secretary, Senior IAS officer and FC Industries Khurshid Ahmad Ganie Monday applied for leave till his retirement, falling on October 31, 2015.
Well informed sources told Early Times that Khurshid Ganai has expressed his anger about the government's decision of appointing B.R Sharma as Chief Secretary."He submitted his leave application on Monday and did not attend his office," one of the government official said.
When contacted FC Industries Khurshid Ahmad Ganai admitted that he has sent his leave to the GAD. "Yes I have forwarded my leave to the GAD and I am availing the leave,"
He claimed that he is not angry with the government's decision over the appointment of B.R Sharma as Chief Secretary. "I am not unhappy at all. It is the government's decision. But yes since I am in the secretariat I cannot work under a junior. It is not done. A senior works nowhere under his Junior," Gani said.
He said that Sharma was Junior to him in the IAS. "He is from 84 batch and I am from batch 82. I cannot work under him in the secretariat at all. Unfortunately the government retains me in the secretariat. That is why I was left with no option but to proceed for leave," he said.
When asked if the government gave him another assignment where he would not have to work under the Chief Secretary B.R Sharma he said he was ready to take it. "If the government gives me another assignment which is independent and where I don't have to work under B. R Sharma I will join it," he said.
It is pertinent to mention here that senior IAS officer Khursheed A Ganai had conveyed to the J&K Government that it should take a call on appointment of new Chief Secretary of the State "as per the seniority and set rules.
The state cabinet which met here under CM Mufti Mohammad Sayeed yesterday cleared BR Sharma as Chief Secretary after Muhammad Iqbal Khanday decided to go on Voluntary retirement. He relinquished office on August 31.
