Avinash Azad Early Times Report JAMMU, Sept 14: Two years ago, some officials of the Board of School Education (BOSE) fudged the date of birth (DoB) certificate of an Executive Engineer. The law enforcement agencies have, however, failed to act against the accused. Jugal Kishore Sharma, presently posted as Executive Engineer, Local Bodies Jammu, was terminated from service for tampering with his DoB in the service book. Sharma was removed from the service on August 23, 2013. A court, however, stayed his termination after he produced a DoB certificate issued by the BOSE on September 23, 2009. A copy of the provisional certificate of Sharma, which is available with Early Times, establishes that BOSE officials had tampered with his DoB certificate. "Jugal Kishore Sharma, son of Mukand Lal Sharma, under admission number 1524, resident of Kishtwar, has June 17, 1956 as his DoB," reads a copy of the provisional certificate issued by Government ML Higher Secondary School, Kishtwar. However, the certificate issued by the BOSE shows Sharma's DoB as June 17, 1958. "The DoB certificate issued by the BOSE was fudged," sources said. "In fact, the fudging was established by J&K Forensic Science Laboratory, Jammu, vide letter number LSG/ULBJ/56/2011, dated January 5, 2013," said sources. They said since most of the officials in the Housing and Urban Local Bodies Department have been allegedly bribed by Sharma, they are reluctant to defend the Government's decision to terminate him in the court of law. "The department is aware about the fudging of the certificate, but money power has hushed-up the case, as a clerk to a Minister got his share," said sources. Sharma had also made illegal appointments during his posting as Executive Engineer, HUDD, second division Jammu, and the Vigilance Organisation had proved the charges against him. |
