Pakistan pot calling Indian kettle black
10/4/2015 11:47:33 PM
It is a case of the pot calling the kettle black as far as the attitude and approach of Pakistan towards India are concerned. Of late Islamabad has coined a new expression. Instead of expressing its ignorance or feigning ignorance about the charge that Islamabad was using the soil of Pakistan for exporting terror to India, Pakistan has started blaming India not only for interfering in the internal matters of Pakistan but also accused it of exporting terror to Pakistan. During the last over two decades not only India but other developed nations have been blaming Pakistan for for providing arms training to terrorists and for allowing a safe haven for militants. And these developed nations have been urging Pakistan to revise its policy on encouraging terrorists in the interest of peace in the South Asian region. Well political, material and moral support to terrorists, operating in Afghanistan,is no longer secret. In the same way Islamabad has accepted that it continued to provide moral, political and diplomatic support to the people of Kashmir, which includes material aid to militants operating in Kashmir. Peeved over India's stand on Nawaz Sharif's four-point peace plan when New Delhi dismissed Pakistan's plea for promoting peace and suggested to Islamabad that if it wanted to hold talks let Pakistan stop exporting terror to India.Pakistan felt hurt when External Affairs Minister, Sushma Swaraj, said on the floor of the UN General Assembly that t alks and terror cannot coexist. And out of frustration over India's stand on Nawaz Sharif's peace plan Pakistan has said that it is regrettable that instead of responding to its goodwill gesture, India is "interfering" in its internal matters and accused it of supporting terrorism. Pakistan Prime Minister's National Security and Foreign Affairs Advisor Sartaj Aziz said that Kashmir was among the oldest unresolved international disputes at the UN forum. Speaking at the Annual Coordination Meeting of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Foreign Ministers here yesterday, he also accused Indian security forces of human rights violations and ceasefire violations. He asked the OIC member states to impress upon India to end its alleged repression of Kashmiris and to come to the negotiating table for peaceful resolution of all outstanding issues including the Kashmir, according to a press release. Aziz also said the denial of right of self-determination to Kashmiri people continued to stain the collective conscience of the international community. "He clarified that elections held under foreign occupation could not be a substitute to the exercise of right to self-determination under a UN plebiscite," the release said. External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj, in her address to the world body, said India does not need four points but only one that Pakistan should give up terror and come to the negotiating table for talks. Sartaj Aziz has raked up the Kashmir issue and alleged Indian interference in internal matters of Pakistan during the OIC meeting when India had already announced that Organisation of Islamic countries had no locus standi on India's internal matters thereby telling Pakistan and other OIC members that since Kashmir is an integral part of India as per the instrument of Accession signed by the last Maharaja of Kashmir it is an internal matter and touching any issue pertained to Kashmir would be sheer interference in India's internal matters. What seems to have needled India is the way Pakistan has accused New Delhi of interfering in its internal matters and by providing support to terrorists which is an art that has been developed by Pakistan to cover its involvement in exporting terror to India. After all one would wish to know who gave birth to scores of militants outfits? Pakistan and only Pakistan.Who provided arms training to activists belonging to Hizbul Mujahideen, Lashkar-i-Toiba, Jash-e-Mohammad and other outfits?. Pakistan and only Pakistan. Hence blaming India for supporting terror in Pakistan would be simply a case of the pot calling the kettle black.Instead of doing so let Islamabad accept the suggestion of Sushma Swaraj and stop exporting terror to India and come forward for initiating a process of purposeful dialogue.
