Early Times Report Jammu, Oct 4: Denying information under Right to Information Act (RTI) has become a regular affair in various government departments and University of Jammu in no exception. JU has denied an applicant the vital information sought by him with regard to interviews to important posts in the university, saying that matter was sub-judice. An RTI applicant informed Early Times that he had sought information on various issues and question No 3 in the RTI query reads as: "Whether the interview of Registrar / CDC / Controller of Examination / Dean Students Welfare / Directorate of Distance Education / Directorate of Sports / Associate of DSW/Administrator of Jorawar Singh Auditorium/Joint Registrar was conducted during the last ten years. If yes provides the dates of Advertisements, list of candidates invited for interview, date of interview conducted/name of committee members who had conducted the interview". Strangely the reply furnished by JU Public Information Officer (II), Dr Rainoo Bhai vide order number PIO-II/JU/15/1501, dated 4/9/2015 and in response to the question the reply reads as, "Interview was not conducted as the matter is sub-judice." Lashing out at the arrogant attitude of JU authorities, the RTI applicant said, "It is very weird to notice that onSeptember 1, the JU according to order No Estab/ NTW/ C&R/15/ 149-200, dated 1/9/2015 advertised 17 posts including Registrar, Controller of Examination, Director, College Development Council, Director, DDE, Director, Physical Education, Administrator (GZSA), Deputy Registrar, Assistant Registrar, Assistant Registrar (Bhaderwah Campus), Assistant Registrar (Kathua Campus), Scientific Officer (USIC)." Criticizing the JU authorities, he says that if the matter is sub-judice due to which interviews were not conducted then how posts are advertised if the matter is still subjudice. "It seems that JU has made mockery of RTI and these officials are leaving no stone unturned to befool applicants and hide the information under one pretext or the other", he said, adding that it enunciated the brazen manipulation of facts and action must be taken against such officials. |
