| Panthers Party criticizes PMGSY for irregularities | | | Early Times Report
Udhampur, Oct 5: JKNPP today criticized PMGSY Division Udhampur accusing the agency for executing construction, repairs and renovation of works worth millions of rupees without inviting tenders.
The agitated protesters burnt the effigy of PMGSY and raised slogans against the Minister and officers.
Speaking on the occasion Jagdev Singh Jagga General Secretary Panthers Party district Udhampur alleged Politician-Contractor nexus in PMGSY, speaks itself as allotment being made without inviting tenders.
"Works amount several crore are being allotted to blue eyed contractors of the politicians by PMGCY in a bid to loot the public money", he said, adding that the PMGSY officers were also hand in glove with certain selected contractors who were being awarded contracts without following codal formalities in lieu of hefty commissions.
He said that officers were indulging in brazen violation of norms and procedures in the process and looting the pubic exchequer without any fear due to the political patronage enjoyed by them.
Making a special mention of some of the construction and repair works being executed departmentally, Jagga said that Massal- Kanah Birnu road, Badhole-Surni road, Chowki-Khorkhal road and Sarsoo road have been awarded to certain favourite contactors illegally and in violation of codel provisions despite the resentment shown by the bonafide contractors.
He further demanded to withhold payments of all those contractors who have been awarded contracts worth millions without observing codal formalities. |
