| Enjoys all privileges, perks as legislator; indulges in anti-India rhetoric | | Er Rashid wants to have the cake and eat it too! | | Early Times Report
jammu, Oct 5: The independent MLA from Langate Er Rashid, who has made it a habit to poke his nose in all the affairs, wants JK Assembly to discuss Kashmir. What an irony!
It seems that someone needs to remind Er Rashid and a few Kashmir based legislators that before entering the Augustus House they take an oath to safeguard integrity and sovereignty of the country. They swear by Indian constitution and are under oath to protect it. "If Er Rashid wants to discuss Kashmir he should first tender his resignation and then do so," said an analyst.
He said, "Er Rashid is enjoying all the privileges and perks as a legislator and on the other hand he talks about Kashmir being an issue. He wants to have the cake and eat it too."
The analyst said that people who believe that Kashmir is an issue have no right to be in the Assembly. "If Geelani and others can be booked for sedition then why doesn't Government act against the people like Er Rashid who openly preach secession and leave no opportunity to flare up communal passions," he added.
Another expert said that Election Commission of India should take a serious note of the activities of the legislators like Er Rashid and should debar them for contesting the polls in future. "Even Speaker has the power to expel the legislators from the House who preach secessionism and indulge in anti-India rhetoric," the expert added.
He said that a few people among the mainstream politicians have made it a habit to raise issues which do not fall in their domain. "Someone needs to remind the politicians like Er Rashid that Assembly is the best place where the sufferings of the common masses can be highlighted. Assembly session provides a golden opportunity to legislators to highlight the difficulties faced by the people in their respective constituencies and get their grievances addressed, but people like Er Rashid are least bothered about issues concerning common masses," the expert added.
Someone needs to tell the legislators like Er Rashid that people didn't vote for them to discuss Kashmir in the House. People have voted for them to ensure they get Bijli, Pani and Sadak. "As far as the question of Kashmir being an issue is concerned it's just a myth. JK is an integral part of India and JK's accession to Union of India is final. So there is no possibility of Assembly or any other House discussing Kashmir," he added.
Apparently it seems that Er Rashid by raising controversial issues wants to keep the separatists happy and wants to be in their good books. "All his (Er Rashid's) utterances are aimed at keeping separatists happy. He also knows it very well that he is selling dreams. People too are fed up of mere rhetoric and want to live a peaceful life," said an analyst.
He said everyone in Kashmir has realized that people like Er Rashid and others raise such issues just to remain in news. They (masses) are aware of the fact that people like Er Rashid are empty vessels who believe in making noise only. |
