Udhampur, Oct 6 : Science Club of Government College Women organized one day inter-College seminar on the topic "Wild-Life Conservation" in collaboration with J&K State Council for Science, Technology and Innovation, district administration. According to press release, the event was graced by the presence of Prof. K.S Koushal, Principal of the college as Chief guest. The inaugural function started with lighting of the traditional lamp by the chief guest and other dignitaries. Dr. Bhavnaish Chand Convener of the seminar presented keynote address. In his key note he said that from the time immemorial, our wildlife has been closely associated with our legendary beliefs, epics and history. Wildlife conservation infact implies active and planned management under which all forms of life would progress said by side with human progress, each in its own sphere of influence and utility. Speaking on the occasion, the chief guest said that goal of wildlife conservation is to ensure that nature will be around for future generations to enjoy and also to recognize the importance of wildlife for humans and other species alike. Students are the best ambassadors to spread this message among masses. Dr. Anil Khajuria (from zoology dept. GDC Udhampur), Prof.Brinder Kumar (HOD Zoology, GCW Udhampur) and Prof. Sumita Rao (from Zoology Dept. of GCW Udhampur) were in the panel of experts to adjudge the participants. 20 students hailing from GDC Kathua, GDC Udhampur, GCW Udhampur, GDC Ramnagar and Bhaskar Degree College Udhampur participated in the seminar. The first prize was bagged by Atika Sharma of GDC Kathua, Second and third prizes were won by Parul Oberoi & Archana Khajuria, respectively from GCW Udhampur. |
