Early Times Report JAMMU, Oct 6: In a broad daylight shootout outside the district complex here today, Ranjodh Singh alias Nalwa survived a murderous attack on him. He was coming out of the court complex when his rival gang members led by one Surinder Singh alias Kala intercepted him, resulting in a scuffle. SSP, Jammu, Uttam Chand said the bullet, which hit Kala in his foot, was actually fired by his own man Davinder Singh alias Bunty. Bunty, a resident of New Plots, and his associates were booked under section 307, 341, 323 and 427 of RPC and 3/25 and 4/25 of Arms Act. Nalwa and Kala jointly ran a weighing bridge at Narwal fruit mandi but developed enemity after the twin murders of the latter's family members at Narwal a few years back. Nalwa, who was not going to his weighing bridge, apprehending trouble, yesterday submitted a written application to Trikuta Nagar police station to proceed in the matter under section 145 of RPC. After proceeding legally in the matter, police submitted the file to the court of law today, according to police sources. Asked if the today's assault on Nalwa was the fallout of his yesterday's application to Trikuta Nagar police station, the SSP said he would be able to say anything in this regard only after investigation in the case was completed. Sources said while Nalwa was coming out the district court complex, Kala, Bunty and their other accomplices intercepted them, leading to a scuffle. After Bunty took out his revolver and opened fire, the bullet hit Kala, his own accomplice, sources alleged. Police had seized the weapon of offence and arrested the accused. Nalwa and his relatives, who were accompanying him, were booked under sections 348, 323 and 427. Kala was admitted to the GMCH here but was later shifted by his relatives to Amritsar for advanced treatment. |
