Enquiry committee recommends de-affiliation, fine | CDC shielding erring private college | | Avinash Azad Early Times Report Jammu, Oct 6: Instead of initiating punitive action against a private college that has been accused of serious discrepancies, Director CDC, University of Jammu is allegedly shielding the said private college. Sources informed Early Times the University of Jammu in month of August 2015 constituted a three members committee to look-into the functioning of a private M.Ed college, but the recommendations were not taken-up in recently held Syndicate Council meeting of JU. Prof JP Singh Joorel as convener, Prof Mubarkh Singh Dean Education and Prof Arvind Jasrotia Dean Law and Prof Versha Mehta Provost Girl Hostel JU submitted report suggesting action against the college', sources said. They further said that the committee on August 14, 2015 submitted its report, but action has not been initiated by the administration till date. "According to recommendation of the enquiry committee the college has to pay a fine Rs 50,000 for each student enrolled for M.Ed in the college, to seize endowment funds and the college was to be de-affiliated", they said. Sources further said that 15 students were enrolled for M.Ed in the college, and according to statute of University of Jammu, if less than 20 students enroll in a courses, they have to be shifted in another college. "Astonishingly, instead of taking action against the college, the university has owned all 15 students, and they are studying in JU campus", sources maintained. They further said that the University of administration is shielding the college due to known reasons. "108th meeting of university Syndicate was held on August 28, 2015, and according to rule the recommendations of the committee was to be taken-up in the council meeting, but due to unknown-reasons, the file is gathering dust in the office of CDC", they added. Moreover, with any recommendation from any statutory body of the varsity, the Director CDC on his own allowed 15 students enrolled in the college in JU Campus, owner of the college went scot free from any action. |
