Early Times Report
Jammu, Oct 7: As failure on governance front and lapses on various issues are costing BJP dearly, MoS lobby is pressing for reshuffle within the party and Deputy Chief Minister Dr Nirmal Singh is the main target.
Ambitious MoS lobby of BJP is counting on the performance of cabinet ministers of the party came in for severe criticism from various quarters that matter in effecting possible changes in the present set up. A couple of senior leaders from New Delhi during review meeting of the party and ministers in terms of assessing their performance took this assessment that those occupying cabinet berths had not been able to deliver upto expectations on various matters and under circumstances where their political wisdom was warranted.
Taking this cue, ministers of state during their separate one to one meetings with the visiting central leaders recently expressed in a tone and tenor that spelt everything short of making direct complaints, sources said adding that the implied expression they made was that they would have served party interests in a better way and handled things in a much better way had they been in existing cabinet minister's position. The MoS group has also reported it in a number of meetings and at individual level that party cabinet minister more often than not remain silent spectators in the cabinet meetings and do not realize the harm accrued to party's image on a host of issues which slip out easily to favour the alliance partner PDP, sources further said.
The MoS lobby has also stated clearly that neither the Deputy Chief Minister nor other cabinet ministers who are much senior to them assert on issues when it is needed most as they are mostly concerned for safeguarding their own position and serving their own interests and least bothered about party's image getting dented on account of their power complacency, sources added. On the other hand the cabinet ministers too have been exhibiting smugness which arises from the frequent assurances of the key central leaders that PDP-BJP alliance government would complete its full term and tenure, something which that has made their working measured only in self satisfaction and self serving mode , sources added. However, the 'appraisal' of central leaders as also perpetual political humiliation meted out on a number of issues at the hands of senior ministers of the party is not only damaging the party's image beyond measures in Jammu but it is fast losing credibility. In the given scenario, the MoS lobby is finding it opportune time to press for their upgradation by effecting reshuffle in the berths, party insiders said.
