Akshay Azad Early Times Report Jammu, Nov 7: Digital technology is presumed by Prime Minister Narender Modi as panacea, a harbinger of development of country but majority of government departments of Jammu and Kashmir government are laggards. Department of Libraries and Research is one such example, website of which is still displaying the picture of National Conference (NC) Minister, instead of minister from present dispensation. The official website of Jammu and Kashmir Department of Libraries and Research is still displaying the photograph of NC Minister Nasir Aslam Wani, in the option of message, who was the then Minister of State for Housing & Urban Dev, PHE, Tourism, Revenue & Relief. Moreover in the option of Minister's message, which earlier had photograph and message of a Minister from Congress party but now the message option is blank, and there is no photograph of any cabinet minister. Despite the fact that Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Bhartiya Janta Party has completely nearly six months but department of Libraries didn't bother to upload photograph and message of incumbent Minister, the website speaks itself. An official of department pleading anonymity said that the obsolete information on the website, commensurate with the condition of libraries, which are dying a slow death across Jammu and Kashmir. Moreover, in the option of contact numbers on website, only landline numbers are displayed, despite the fact that mobile phones are in vogue for the last many years and each official has in possession of mobile phones. In the photographs option, the website displays a message, which reads as, "Photographs removed in compliance with election Model Code of Conduct". "It is still unknown, the photographs are removed for Parliamentary Elections or Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly Election", an official said. The website didn't offers any information regarding the incumbent Director, Deputy Directors and other officials of Libraries department and absence of such basic information on the website, only narrates the volumes of abhorrence of departments towards Digital technology. |
