Srinagar, Oct 8: Terming the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama'at Srinagar's plan to hold a "Peace Symposium at SKICC" on October 10 as "Fitna and Terrorism", the Islamic scholars of Kashmir on Thursday unanimously asked the government not to allow the group to hold the event.
Addressing a first ever joint press conference, under the banner of Majils e Tahafuz e Khatam-e-Nabuwat, noted Islamic scholar Mufti Nazir Ahmed Qasmi who is also member Muslims Personal Law Board said it was high time for Hindus, Sikhs and Christians to join hands with Muslims to expose the conspiracy of Qadyanees. "From being Jesus Christ to lord Krishana, the founder of Mirzayee religion, Ghulam Mohemad Qadyani had claimed to be everything including God. So people of all religions must join hands to expose the sinister designs of creating chaos and confusion," the scholar said while addressing press conference at 7 Cs Café and Fine Dine at Sangarmaal here.
He said calling the followers of Mirza Ghulam Mohammad Qadyani as Ahmedi was biggest sin form Muslims as neither Qadyani nor his followers are Muslims. "You can call them Mirzayee," Mufti Nazir said.
He clarified that the Ulema had no issues with any religion who so ever wants to hosts functions in Kashmir or elsewhere. "From Muslims to Hindus to Jains to Sikhs people of every religion have right to hold their functions but what pinches us is that Mirzayees do it in the name Islam," the scholar said.
He said the Ulema would welcome the government decision if the conference permission has been rejected but that "it would be intolerable for every Muslim if the go ahead was given at the eleventh hour."
"The kind of feelers we got was that the administration would not allow the function to be held which is welcome step. But if the function is allowed to be held, the onus of any reaction from Muslims particularly youth will squarely lie on the government," Mufti Nazir said.
The scholars said for a conflict-zone like Kashmir it was but natural to have "Fitnas getting incited in the name of religion." "But we have to be united and cautious to foil such designs," the scholars said.
The Ulema said their aim was not to hurt any Mirzayee as they happen to fellow brothers in the land. "We are ready to a host a function where they(Mirzayee) and we can put our points and prove who is wrong and why," Mufti Nazir said.
The Ulema appealed the Masjid Imams across Jammu and Kashmir to dedicate their Friday sermons to make people aware of who Mirzayee are and what their plot is.
Others prominent scholars who spoke on the occasion include Maulana Hameed Ullah, , Mufti Muzaffar, Mufti Abdul Raheem, Mufti Abdul Rasheed and representatives of Rabita Madaris.
