| Beef Ban Row : BJP's insensibility of running government ruining the show | | 'Sensitivity of communal brotherhood being destroyed' | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Oct 9: The beef party by engineer Rashid in Srinagar MLA hostel and BJP MLA Ravinder Raina's backlash on it that led to ugly incidents outside and inside the assembly overnight and today has drawn fire from both the communities of Hindus and Muslims alike in Jammu.
They have termed the incident revolting and alarming for the state.
"The moment for amending the beef ban law in the state is basically an attack on the reminiscences of secular sensitivity in Kashmir. By seeking an amendment in the law, the political class in Kashmir wants to make a final assault on the principal of co-existence. For last 150 years there has been a mutual sensitivity between the major communities in the state to respect each others' sensitivity. Now even this sensitivity is being destroyed," said Ajay Chrungoo, chairman Panun Kashmir
He added that the public display of killing of cows , video graphing it and making it viral on the social media is similar to what ISIS was doing in Syria and Iraq by publicly beheading and killing its hostages
"It is BJP that has been standing the filmsy grounds since it jumped into coalition for power. The party that has been in opposition since the independence of the country has no intellect level to be in the governance as it has proved to be total failure. It is not the issue of beef or any other animals' meat which is the base of the trouble, but the communal card which has taken the forefront due to saffron party's incapability of running a smooth government," said one of the Muslim Federations' general secretary of Jammu and a social activist wishing not to be named while talking to Early Times.
He said the state of Jammu and Kashmir is the most sensitive ground that can incite communal violence on smaller pretexts even, the prime minister and his party's 'deliberate ignorance' on such issues is dangerous.
Farhan Ahmed, 32, a medical practitioner at Gandhinagar said the issue of ban of beef and anti-ban has created a fear psychosis in the minds of the people of Jammu who are highly acknowledged for keeping communal brotherhood.
"This is political nuance which is being given a communal hue by the politicians for their petty means. There was no need to rake up already existing law in the state over the beef ban. BJP did the first damage and now the majority community in valley is up in arms against it," said Farhan Ahmed.
"Nobody should try anything that provokes the religious sentiments of the people of other religion. And any act done in a vindictive way to settle the revenge of others is an act of crime which is not tolerable in any society," said Lalit Magotra, eminent educationist and well renowned literary figure of the state. |
