Early Times Report
Jammu, Oct 8: The allotment of residential plots allegedly out of the sanctioned park at Tawi Vihar has sparked controversy between a MLC and the Housing Corporation forcing the people to think who is right and who is wrong.
While Congress MLC Rani Gargi Billowria said she had inaugurated the park at 27-B,Tawi Vihar Colony when she was Deputy Mayor and asked the deputy commissioner, Jammu, to hold an inquiry and furnish action taken report accordingly that how a park has been turned into residential plots.
The Housing Corporation said that there is no provision for park in that particular lane as claimed by some residents of the colony. The Corporation said that as per their layout plan the area in question has been earmarked as residential and three plots have been carved out in the said land allotted way back in the year 1999-2000. "How can a park be inaugurated by Rani Billowria as deputy mayor in February 2005 on the land which is duly alloted/leased out in favour of the beneficiary members way back in the year 1999/2000?" the press note by Housing Corporation said.
The statement of the Corporation was refuted by the residents of the locality stating that the foundation stone of the park is very much there on the said piece of land inaugurated by Rani Billowria.
They said that it was the same Housing Corporation which refused to provide lay out plan in reply to the RTI query. The RTI query was filed by Advocate Vilakshan Singh seeking a certified copy of the approved map/site plan of Tawi Vihar Colony, Sidhra. Residents also demanded Shopping Complex which has not come as yet.
Meanwhile, B.B. Sharma, MD Housing Corporation when contacted said that the park in question is actually residential plots, adding, Corporation has sanctioned four parks and all are fully developed. When asked about the refusal to provide the lay out plan of the colony, he said that the Housing Corporation did not fall under the ambit of the State Information Commission as per the Supreme Court's direction. Talking on Shopping Complex, he said that the land has been identified for the purpose and application for approval of the same has been forwarded to the JMC.
However, DC Jammu Simrandeep Singh when contacted said that Tehsildar has been directed to get the construction work stop going on there. The action on the part of the DC was taken following the MLC's direction to hold the inquiry.
