Govt has no plan to implement 73rd, 74th amendment | | | Asif Iqbal Naik Early Times Report
Srinagar, Oct 8: The government of Jammu and Kashmir today categorically stated that 73rd and 74th amendment of Panchayat Raj Act is not applicable in state, however added that J&K Panchayat Raj Act (PRA) (amended Act) 2014 has been enacted to bring in the broad features of the 73rd amendment Act in the State Act. In reply to AQ No. 375 of MLA Doda Shakti Raj Parihar regarding the steps intended to be taken to empower the PRS in the state at par with other states of the country , Under Secretary to Rural Development and Panchayat Raj on behalf of incharge Minister stated that in order to empower PRI of the state, the government in the General Administrative Department issued order No. 1126-GAD of 2011 Dated 22-09-2011 where under devolving of powers with regard to funds, functions and functionaries to the extent of the below 14 departments issued individual government orders deciphering the devolution of 3 Fs to PRIs which include Agriculture Department, Animal and Sheep Husbandry, CA&PD, Education, Fisheries, Forest, Health, Horticulture, I&C, PHE, PWD, Revenue, RDD and Social Welfare departments. Beside the government reply also stated that, the Jammu and Kashmir Municipal Act 2000 is model of encompasses and board features of 74th constitutional amendments as well. |
