Reject return formula

Early Times Report

JAMMU, Oct 8: Out rightly rejecting the fresh return proposal, All Migrant Camp Coordination Committee (AMCCC) today said that no return formula is acceptable unless and until its pros and cons are discussed with the representatives of displaced people form Valley.
Talking to reporters here today, Desh Rattan president of the Committee and its coordinator DilipPandita held both Union and State governments responsible for the mass exodus of Pandits from Valley in 1989-90 and denial of fundamental rights to the hapless community.
They said seven lakh Pandits are leading an exiled life since 1989 in India and outside and their miseries have compounded in the last 26 years due to the callousness of the successive State and Central governments.
While taking the `pseudo' secular parties and their leaders to task, they said no one talked about the massacres of Kashmiri Pandits in Valley, razing of their houses and property to ground, lynching of females on saws and forcing them to leave the Valley to lead an exiled life over the years.
Desh Rattan, while condemning any sort of killing said Kashmiri Pandits are truly secular who believed in pluralism as the best way of life but has any one among the pseudo secular parties of this country ever talked of restoring their homeland to them where from they have been thrown out by the communal and fundamental forces on the behest of Pakistan.
He said instead of taking action against the forces responsible for mass exodus of Pandits, the Government is spending crores of rupees on their (separatists) security.
He wanted to know why the Government is providing security to anti national elements?
Desh Rattan said it is pity that over the years the Government has failed to constitute a Commission to probe the genocide of Pandits and publish a white paper on the same.
He said it is the failure of the State as well as Central government that seven lakh Kashmiri Pandita are wondering in different parts of country like nomads as they have no place to call their homeland despite being one of the ancient and richest civilizations of India who have contributed a lot to Indian aesthetics and culture.
Turning tables on Government Dilip Pandita said that deputy commissioners being custodians of migrant land and property have failed to protect the same and there seems to be a nexus between land mafia and government agencies in grabbing the migrant land.
He said GoI paid huge amount as flood relief to people in Valley but not a single penny was given to Pandits whose houses and other property was damaged in last year floods or in 26 years of turmoil.
Rejecting the talks with Pakistan or any other separatist group over Kashmir, Dilip said the Pandits are only stakeholders of Kashmir and the main Party to Kashmir issue.
He said the government is rehabilitating terrorists by spending huge amount on them but on the other hand no steps have been taken to rehabilitate the victims of terrorism i.e, KPs especially the over aged youth of the community who have no source of livelihood.
He demanded payment of Rs 25 lakh to each over aged youth and hassle free bank loans to them to start their business and feed their families.
