JAMMU, Oct 8 : 33rd Annual Prize Distribution Function of Tawi Trekkers was held at K L Sehgal hall today.
On this occasion a number of Sport climbers, mountaineers, institutions which promote adventure activities and prominent members of the club were honoured by the Chief Guest Anjali Sharma, Director, Doordarshan
Kendra, Jammu and Presiding Guest Ashwani Sharma, former Legislator. The main attraction of the Prize Distribution Function Shivani Charak who brought laurels to the club and the state by winning two Gold medals and one bronze medal in the North Zone Sport Climbing Championship held at Indian Mountaineering Foundation from 26th to 28th September,20l5. Fourteen years old Shivani, a student of Shining Star Academy Muthi, Jammu was honoured with a medal, a memento and a gift. Shilpa Charak and Mrityunjay Sharma were also honoured along with Aman Dogra and Asma Gul. Ajay Deep Singh of Shining Star Academy, Muthi, Jammu and Renu Devi of National Academy Udhampur were also felicitated.
The Dedication Award for the year 2015 was conferred upon the Board of Directors of Sprawling Buds School, Chinore, Jammu for their single minded dedication and devotion to promote trekking, mountaineering and allied activities in the state. 19 institutions were also awarded for their participation in club's various activities along with 22 teachers who escorted various groups of trekkers during Moungri and Dharamshala Trekking programs. Shawetica Khajuria, General Secretary of the club, in her Annual report, highlighted the activities organised by the club so far during the year B2015. She reiterated that the club is celebrating the year 2015 as the Silver Jubilee year of Himalayan Trekking Program.
The club has already conducted 18 events/activities including 8 treks, one professional adventure camp, two coaching camps for sport climbers, one atJammu and the other at Delhi. Ram Khajuria, Sr. Vice President of the club read the welcome address and Shawetica Khajuria, General Secretary of the club presented the Vote of Thanks. Shiv Kumar Sharma, Joint Secretary J&K State Sports Council and Rajan Sharma Divisional Sports Officer J&K State Sports Council and Sanjeet Khajuria, Asst. Director Doordarshan Kendra, Jammu who were Guests of Honour on the occasion. Present on the occasion included directors and principals of various schools including Sprawling Buds School, Jammu, Oriental Academy Sr. Secondary School, Shangrila Public School, Jammu, St. Xavier Convent Sr. Secondary School, Barnai, Shiksha Niketan Group of schools, J K Public School Mubarak Mandi, R M Public School, Chowadi, National Academy High School, Udhampur, Shining Star Academy, Muthi, Amba Kids Home,Panthal, Reasi , MHAC School, Nagbani, Light House public School, Jammu, Aryan Oriental Convent Hr.
