| 'He has aroused communal passions, teach him a lesson' | | 'Act against trouble monger Er Rashid' | | ET Report
JAMMU, Oct 8: As the row over beef ban took an ugly turn on Thursday with BJP legislators giving vent to their ire by taking to task the independent MLA, Er Rashid, in the Assembly.
The independent MLA from Langate hosting a beef party in MLAs hostel in Srinagar antagonized the BJP MLAs who first disrupted the beef party on Wednesday night and then took Er Rashid head on in the Legislative Assembly on Thursday morning.
The independent MLA provoked the BJP MLAs and hurt the sentiments of the Hindu community by openly hosting a beef party. He provoked the BJP leaders and they reacted with the full force. "Er Rashid has aroused the communal passions and it can have reaching consequences. He could have organized the party at his home rather than choosing MLA hostel as the venue for the party," said an analyst.
He said, "I want to ask Er Rashid and Kashmir based legislators how would they have reacted if someone would have hosted the alcohol and pork party in MLAs hostel. Er Rashid without caring for the religious sentiments of the Hindu community went ahead with his beef party that too at a place where Hindu MLAs are putting up."
The analyst said, "He (Er Rashid) had thought that he would become a hero by throwing the party and would get away with it. He has stirred the hornet's nest and has invited trouble."
He said, "Even separatists, who openly indulge in anti-India activities, did not dare to throw a beef party but this man crossed all the limits triggering resentment in entire Jammu region."
He said that Speaker and Election Commission of India should take serious note of his (Er Rashid's) actions and expel him from the Assembly. ECI should not allow him to contest any elections in future as he has turned out to be the "biggest trouble monger."
"It's not only the BJP legislators who have been hurt by the actions of Er Rashid. He has hurt the sentiments of the entire Hindu community and he should not be spared," the analyst said. "People like Er Rashid are taking advantage of democracy and have started believing that JK is their fiefdom."
Another JK watcher said that beef row has proved that time has come to separate Jammu and Ladakh regions from Kashmir Valley. "This incident would definitely help the people who are advocating trifurcation of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh. "Time has come to trifurcate the State and say goodbye to Kashmir. If Kashmir based leaders don't mend their ways people of Jammu would be left with no other option other than blocking supplies to Kashmir. Some people are trying to vitiate the atmosphere for their vested interests and are hoping that PDP-BJP coalition would crumble under its own weight," he added.
He was of the opinion that some people, including National Conference leaders, are trying to take the advantage of the situation and all the efforts are being made to create 2008 like Amarnath land row situation. "Jammu is simmering if people like Er Rashid are allowed to carry on with their activities there is every possibility of situation taking an ugly turn," he added. |
